Lately...

First blog post of 2011! And January is almost over. Wow, how's that for ya??

A whole lot has happened in the last 19 days, so here's a (semi) quick rundown of everything going on. Let's move backwards.

Right Now: I'm watching Sixteen Candles in my bed and drinking a glass of wine. The current scene is the one when Farmer Ted follows Andie into the auto shop and tries to serenade her with Beatles songs. Unfortunately, I think I too have been groped in a car while the Beatles played in the background. Sad, sad day.

I'm at work right now and I'm a little on the bored side, so I'm going to blog so it looks like I'm doing something. :) Note: I can only do this for three more days (waste time at work, that is)!

Do Something Good

...For your body, that is! Thanksgiving is a mere two days away, and that means turkey, pie, mashed potatoes, gravy, so much food! And you know what comes just a month after Thanksgiving? Yes, that would be Christmas. And then it's New Years Eve (aka my birthday :) and then suddenly it's a new year and you feel fat, slobby and worthless.

The Best Potatoes Ever!

These are some of the greatest potatoes I've ever had! I've made them two years in a row for our office pot luck Thanksgiving and they've been a hit both times. They're so easy; try them out!

Honestly, I have no idea what to call them. Creamy diced potatoes? Cheesy diced potatoes? I don't know! Make up your own name!

Pumpkin Spice Cake Cookies!

I love the holidays! I truly, truly do. :) While I am in a constant state of frenzy due to school, impending graduation and possible unemployment, I only need to remind myself that Thanksgiving is a mere two and a half weeks away. *Sigh* I can breathe easy once again.


There's something about the holidays that makes me want to cook, even though I am no good! Honestly though, I am really looking forward to this year's office Thanksgiving so I can make my mom's awesome potatoes and these wonderful cookies I tried out last night.

The Opposite of Domesticity

According to a number of online thesauruses, domesticity doesn't have an antonym. If it did though, that word could be used to describe me. Let me tell you a story.

The character of Robert McCallister died very early in the new season of Brothers & Sisters. Heartbroken, I am. Sadder still though, is that Rob Lowe wasn't in it at all! :(


I love Rob Lowe. He's on the November 2010 cover of Architectural Digest, which means I can see his pretty face at work if I want to. Or, I can just wait til this weekend and swipe my brother's DVD copy of The Outsiders. After all, this is my favorite Rob Lowe. And The Outsiders is one of my very favorite books/movies ever.

I care not that he was in rehab in the 80s and is one of the original claimers of "sex addiction." I just look at him and all is forgiven. With those blue eyes and dark hair... *sigh* Also, he has aged extremely well.
